Cary man creates iPad app for individuals with autism

 

The long awaited day has arrived! augie is finally available for download on the Apple App Store. The augie team has work tirelessly to see that this multi-function AAC App reaches the families and individuals that most need communication supports. With the help of our friends and colleagues like Nan Negri, Jenny Potanos, Martha Leary, Darlene Hanson and Anne Donnellan, we will see that dream realized.

To all the beta test individuals, families, colleagues, THANK YOU for the much needed encouragement and support through this process, you can't know how much you have helped to make augie a reality. Please feel free to share our exciting news...augie is on the Apple App Store under the education category listed as "Augie AAC".

Months of hard work has come to fruition, and we are proud to introduce augie to the world.

Take a look around the new website to learn more about augie, the best AAC application for the iPad (currently self-proclaimed). 

As you will notice we have a Support Page that features augie’s Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ), User Forum, and our Support Center.  While the FAQ and Support Center will become built up once augie is launched, please feel free to sign up for the Forum and post or ask questions now.

Team augie raised money and gave away wristbands at the 2011 WALK NOW FOR AUTISM SPEAKS at Soldier Field in beautiful Chicago, IL. The event was a huge success with over 1.4 Million dollars raised! To date, this was the "Largest Autism Event in the Universe" with over 17,000 people joining the cause! Thanks to all who helped out and donated!

After one month and over 30 testers, our beta test ends with huge success.  We want to thank all of our beta testers for helping make it so successful!!  We know there are many people wondering what happens now?

augie's development team is hard at work fixing some minor bugs and incorporating some of the great feedback we received from the beta test.  We are looking to have augie submitted to Apple by the end of this month.  We will continue to update this News Blog, so subscribe or keep checking back!
